Tech: Now Up-to-Date vs Tiger

If you are using Now Up-to-Date Contact, be aware that the current version is not compatible with Tiger. According to Now a new Tiger compatible version will be out soon after Tiger's release.

A just-received e-mail from Now Software:

Now Up-to-Date and Contact version 5 is in the final rounds of beta
testing. Version 5 supports Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.4 ("Tiger") and
will be available by June 2005.

The current shipping version, 4.5.3, is not Tiger compatible. We
recommend that customers who rely on Now Up-to-Date and Contact wait
until version 5 has been released before installing Tiger.

John Wallace, president of Now Software says, "We've been testing
NUDC v.5 since late last year and we're working hard to get it out
shortly after Tiger ships. Quality is critical and we will be running
all of our tests against the released version of Tiger to make sure
that everything works properly. We're looking forward to getting NUDC
v.5 into everyone's hands."

Now Up-to-Date and Contact version 5 includes many new features,
including team scheduling with the new Schedule View, the new Now
Server Manager, an enhanced look and feel, and literally hundreds of
updates and improvements.

Pricing: Version 5 upgrades from version 4.x are available for
$49.94. You can also purchase new copies for $129.95 (or $119.95
online download version). If you purchased or upgraded on or after
March 28, 2005 you'll receive version 5 for free. If you're upgrading
from an version older than 4, please call us at 614-413-4000 for
details.

We are working on subsequent versions which add many Tiger-specific
features, such as Dashboard Widgets for QuickDay and QuickContact,
Spotlight support, and full support for Sync Services. These features
will be provided free of charge to those that purchase or upgrade to
version 5 and will be available later this year.

Version 5 for Windows will be released following the Mac version.
Version 5 for Mac supports the current Windows version (4.5.2).
